Om kurset:
I konkurransen om arbeidsplasser søker et stigende antall norske scenekunstnere ut av Norge for relevant arbeid. Et gjentagende spm. er hva som kreves av en som «internasjonal utøver», og hvordan man kommer i kontakt med agentene som anbefaler deg videre til produsenter og auditions i det respektive land.
MTF setter i denne workshoppen fokus på England som arbeidsmarked og arrangerer en 3 dagers workshop som gjennomføres som en utvidet West End Audition/Showcase med danseaudition i to kategorier, trained dancers og musical theatre allrounders, samt sang audition.
Dans/koreografi ledes av den engelske danseren og koreografen Sarah Kitson, mens regissør Matt Ryan gir innstudering i musical song med fokus på språk og formidling.
Workshoppen avsluttes med en agentvisning, hvor 4 etablerte Agenter fra England/West End danner panelet. Etter hver fremføring vil agentene gi en til en direkte feedback til alle deltakere.
Workshoppen gir norske utøvere en eksklusiv mulighet for nettverking og mulig innpass i den Engelske Scenekunst bransjen.

"Not every musical theater performer can be the best dancer or best singer or the best actor. We all have our strengths and weaknesses and it is our goal in this workshop to show you at your best!
We shall work at different levels and play around with some different styles to put your best foot forward.
Divided in to groups we will work with performers who would like to show dance as their main attribute and singer/actors who would like to show that they have rhythm and can move well to music.
The agents, some of which were performers themselves, have over forty years of experience between them and know exactly what they are looking for.
The industry in the UK is huge and there is a lot of competition but there is also a huge amount of work and a huge variety of work. They are looking at you as an individual not comparing your strengths with anyone else's."

Form: Workshop, gruppe og en til en arbeid, med avsluttende visning i gruppe og en til en.
Formål:
- Forberede norske utøvere på forberedelser og arbeid i det Engelske markedet.
- Møteplass mellom norske utøvere og engelske agenter.
Mål:
- Styrke norske utøveres forståelse av krav og forventning ved internasjonalt arbeid, i dette tilfelle i UK/West End.
- Styrke norske utøveres muligheter til en Internasjonal nettverksarena og karriere innen Engelsk scenekunst.
Dagsplan:
Det legges opp til 2 grupper for kategoriene erfarne dansere og musical theatre allrounders.
Gruppe 1 arbeider dag 1 (01.okt.) og gruppe 2 arbeider dag 2 (2. okt.).
Dag 3 (3. okt.) samles alle til audition/showcase for agentene.
Koreografien innstuderes i samlet gruppe.
Sang innstuderes med 15. min pr. deltaker i masterclass form.

Kursholdere:
Matt Ryan:
Matt directed the European premiere of Dogfight at Southwark Playhouse (Evening Standard nomination for best new musical) and Stay Awake, Jake at the Vaults, Waterloo East (Origins Award, Vaults Festival).
He began his directing career as an associate to Trevor Nunn and John Caird on Cameron Mackintosh’s original production of Les Miserables at the Palace Theatre in London and subsequently staged productions of the show in Australia, South Africa, Hong Kong and on tour in the UK.
He then became associate director of Miss Saigon at the Theatre Royal Drury Lane which gave him the opportunity to direct the show’s Australian premiere at the Capitol Theatre in Sydney as well as the original British touring production. During this time he also staged the Boublil and Schoenberg segment of Hey Mr Producer at the Lyceum Theatre.
In the UK Matt continues to direct classic and contemporary musicals. Productions include : Sweeney Todd, Company, Cabaret , They Shoot Horses, Don’t They?, Carousel, Oklahoma!, Nine, Grand Hotel, Merrily We Roll Along, The Rink, The Wiremen, Hello Again, Pal Joey, Michael John La Chuisa’s The Wild Party, First Lady Suite, Rent, Carnival, Assassins, William Finn’s Elegies, A Doll’s Life, Promises Promises, The Light In The Piazza, Lady In The Dark and the London premieres of Jane Eyre, Violet, A Man Of No Importance, Bernarda Alba, A Catered Affair and Is There Life After High School? (Time Out Critic’s Choice).
He has also directed and devised shows for Frances Ruffelle (Beneath The Dress/Paris Original), Clare Burt (Now You Know) and Philip Quast (Divas At The Donmar).
He has worked extensively in the Netherlands with productions of Miss Saigon, My Fair Lady (John Kraijjkamp Musical Award for Best Director), Evita andLa Cage Aux Folles.
Other work in Europe includes The Importance Of Being Earnest at the English Theatre, Frankfurt and La Cage Aux Folles at the Aarhus Theatre, Denmark.
Matt is currently involved in the development of a new musical, Rosa, based on the life of the legendary civil rights activist Rosa Parks. He is an Honorary Member of the Royal Academy Of Music where he regularly teaches and directs on the musical theatre programme.
Sarah Kitson:
Training: Laine Theatre Arts. Three year diploma in Musical Theatre and Dance.
Theatre includes: Dirty Dancing (Copenhagen, UK Tour and West End); Footloose (UK Tour); We Will Rock You (West End); High School Musical (UK Tour); Fame (UK and European Tour)
Choreographer work includes: Color Magic and Color Fantasy (2Entertain Norge) Guest Choreographer (Starworkers) Assistant Choreographer work includes: Dirty Dancing (Copenhagen); Saturday Night Fever (Copenhagen 2017).
Petter Kragstad:
Petter er utdannet ved Norges Musikkhøgskole i Oslo og innehar en bachelor i musikkpedagogikk og en bachelor i komposisjon. Han har vært tilnyttet Bårdar Akademiet som repetitør siden 2004, og underviser i dag også flere klasser i kor.
Han har også vært tilknyttet Statens teaterhøgskole (senere Kunsthøgskolen i Oslo) som repetitør (2002/2008).
Petter har hatt ulike frilansoppdrag på ulike scener i Norge som bl.a; Kapellmester på Little Me, Riksteatret/Rogaland teater, Kapellmester på Fruen på Losby, Losby Gods, Repetitør på Jenny – en anderledes opera, med Dissimilis, Repetitør på Sound of Music, Edderkoppen teater, Musiker på Show Off, Grand hotell Larvik, Musiker på Singing in the Rain, Oslo Nye teater, Musiker og kapellmester på Svindlere med stil, Thalia teater, og en rekke andre oppsettninger.
Han har gjort diverse oppdrag for Oslo Fagottkor, Stilett, Ellen Nikolaysen, Heidi Ruud Ellingsen, Erik André Hvidsten, Jannecke Øinæs, Morten Remberg, Eldrid Johansen. Siden 2008 har han vært medlem av Jono el Grande & The Luxury Band.
